By now almost all of us know the situation in Haiti and what a devastating time it is for the people who live there. I cannot begin to imagine. What horror. Children walking streets without their parents, wondering what in the world just happened, having no where to go. I know there are many of us who wish we could be there right now to help, but can't. However, we each can help in our own ways. So I say do it to it, no time like the present.
The CNN site below is totally legit from what I can tell, no scams. I think the $10 text to Red Cross is the way to go. Who cares if your cell phone bill costs a little more next month? Pass on the Starbucks or the drive-thru for a few days and you should be good.
You can text "haiti" to 90999. Red Cross will then send you a confirmation text asking you to reply "YES" before it charges your cell phone provider, it's that easy.
Check it out on the CNN site first if you need to make sure... http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/impact/ or visit Red Cross on Twitter at http://twitter.com/RedCross
Really, it just takes a second.

The severe impact of
The severe impact of earthquake and the devastation that it brought to all Haitians calls for our selfless love, give until it hurts this is the best that we can do for them. We have lot of options to help the Haiti victims, it can be through prayers, financial or our service, it will depend upon us the available resources that we can share to the affected people, regardless of the value I know that they are grateful enough knowing that a lot of us are taking the move to ease their suffering. Anyway if you want to donate to charity through one of the text message campaigns, check the bona fides before you do. Some are legit, and aren't run by scammers that will send you running for payday loans and a lawyer to try and sue some con artist into the Stone Age, who the Chinese won't extradite. For instance, text Haiti to 90999 is the American Red Cross, text Haiti to 501501 is the Wyclef Jean ran foundation, and text Haiti to 20222 is the Clinton Foundation. If you were thinking of donating to Haitian earthquake relief via text message, those three are likely the best bets.
$8 million to Haiti!!!
I awoke this morning to a Red Cross tweet saying Americans have donated $8 million so far in relief funds to Haiti! By texting alone! That's insane! $8 million, peeps! All by a simple $10 dollar charge to your cell phone bill, that's like 2 Starbucks lattes, 1 movie ticket...
The breakdown: 100 people texting once sends $1000! And it's so easy to do. Simply add Red Cross to your cell phone contacts, 90999 as their phone# and text msg the word "haiti" to them... every little bit counts! xoxo
($8 million. Holy cow. That's $3 million up from yesterday, keep it up!!!)
